19th Aug, 2016 - World Photo Day / by Ryen Mikel

This year I want to celebrate World Photography Day by sharing a few of my Polaroid collection over the past two years and also from when I was child.

Polaroids are timeless, to me they give this magical feeling, so many details of that point in time start replaying in my head and I feel instantly connected to that moment again.

The whole processes fascinates me, once you take the photo, you have to shield it from the light, depending on the film you're using the development process takes either 10-15 mins or 30-45 mins and the anticipation is EXCITING! You never really know how it will turn out. My favorite pictures are the ones that have peculiar imperfections, examples of those either have a washed out/faded look, random streaks, artifacts, spots and some blurriness which adds a unique effect and it can't be duplicated.

Whether you're shooting with a Polaroid, DSLR or a camera phone, I encourage you to not just take a photo to take a photo, but to capture the essence of that moment on which you want it to live FORVER!
